Datwyler announces completion of FTTH project for Zurich Electricity Company

Dec 1, 2011

Datwyler Cabling Solutions announced the completion of Zurich Electricity Company’s Fiber to the home project which they have undertaken. Datwyler Cabling Solutions is a leading provider of total solutions for the electrical and communications infrastructure of public and commercial buildings, of data centres and for FTTx networks.

Datwyler Cabling Solutions is a part of Datwyler Group, which is an international multi-niche player, dedicated to industrial component supply and distribution of engineering and electronic components.

Datwyler provides integrated total solutions and has positioned itself as a turnkey partner in many projects such as multi-site projects, FTTH projects (fibre to the home). The FTTH project of Zurich Electricity Company was started from 2010 October at Hardstrasse. The FTTH implementation project at Hardstrasse connected 1400 residents in 106 buildings as per the company’s press release.

Datwyler is originally a Swiss based cable manufacturer expanded the business areas and regions to different parts of the world to become an international company. The company is nearing to its 100th year of establishment. Datwyler now offer its services as a total solution provider for electrical and communication infrastructure of buildings and Fiber optic access networks.

The current FTTH construction work was efficiently completed in 2011 March and was handed over to Zurich Electricity Company. Datwyler says the construction included blowing of fiber optic cables into the pipe system and optical fiber splicing to connect the network.

The Point of Presence (POP) and the telecom shafts are interconnected by over eight kilometers of feeder cable. Approximately 20 kilometers of Datwyler’s newly developed S-Micro cable were used for the connections from the shafts to the buildings, which is knows as the drop area.

Datwyler is a leading supplier of premium quality total solutions for the electrical and ICT infrastructure in public and commercial buildings as well as for FTTx networks. To know more about Datwyler and their solutions please visit Datwyler

Fiber Optics is Green!

Developed in the 1970s communication systems using optical fibers has revolutionized the telecommunications industry and have been played a leading role in the formation of New Technical Age. Fiber Optic communication is a method of transmitting information from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fiber.

Fiber optics is the leading technology in the field of communication. Fiber has reached to the home finally by realizing the expectations for an unlimited bandwidth. Optical fibers still have unutilized potential for digital transmission. Learn fiber optics will give an edge and keep us updated with the technology. Watching demos, videos and reading more from internet is the cost effective option to learn about Optical fiber technology.
The fiber optic technology uses the light which forms an electromagnetic carrier wave. This will be modulated to carry information.. Optical fibers have clear advantages over other electrical transmission mediums. Optical fibers have largely replaced copper wire communications in core networks in the developed world and have been making inroads to the developing countries as well.

The communication process using fiber optics involves the following steps: Creation of the optical signal using a transmitter, relaying the signal along the Optical fiber, make sure that the optical signals do not get weakened, receiving the optical signal, and converting it into an electrical signal.Optical fibers are eco-friendly and Fiber optic technology is Green!
